3 Must See Temples in Phuket - BIG Buddha Wat Suri Sunthin and Wat Chalong BONUS Phuket View Dining
Join us as we visit 3 temples in Pluket today including Wat Sri Sunthon, Wat Chalong and the Big Buddha. Our plans were to visit 4 Phuket Temples, but we made a mistake and could not find one of them. We did find the Phuket Views Restaurant though which was pretty amazing.
Wat Chalong or Chalong Temple was built at the beginning on 19th century. Its real name is Wat Chaiyathararam. Wat Chalong ( Chalong Temple ) is the largest of Phuket's temples, and the most visited.
Big Buddha is one of the most important and revered landmarks on the island. The huge statue sits on top of the Nakkerd Hills between Chalong and Kata and, at 45 meters tall, can be seen from as far away as Phuket Town and Karon Beach.
Wat Sri Sunthon (Wat Lipon) is a Buddhist temple in Thalang, around 14.5 km north of Phuket Town. One of the first things you'll see when entering the temple grounds is the 29-meter-high Sleeping Buddha sculpture, which occupies the top of the wat’s central building. There are also 9 smaller Buddha images in different positions – all facing the entrance as if welcoming you to this holy place of worship.
