Difficult Video to Make - Cambodia Genocide Museum and The Killing Fields
Join @kimberleyssandbox and I as we share this emotionally powerful and thought-provoking video, join us on a visit to the Cambodia Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields. We will take you on a journey through the tragic history of Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge regime from 1975 to 1979.
We will begin our tour at the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, also known as S-21, which was once a high school converted into a detention and torture center by the Khmer Rouge regime. Here, we will learn about the brutal interrogation methods and torture techniques used on innocent Cambodians who were accused of being enemies of the state.
Next, we will travel to the Choeung Ek Killing Fields, where over one million Cambodians were executed and buried in mass graves during the Khmer Rouge regime. We will explore the different sites within the Killing Fields, including the Memorial Stupa which houses over 5,000 skulls of victims found on the site.
This video is a solemn reminder of the devastating consequences of totalitarianism and the importance of preserving the memory of those who suffered during this tragic period in Cambodia's history. Join us as we pay our respects to the victims of the Cambodia Genocide and the Killing Fields.
We finish the afternoon at the Royal Palace and then visit the Aeon 1 mall.
