How we create our guides.

Almost Retired in Thailand combines Dave and Kim’s personal video stories and original travel notes with researched planning guides. Our goal is to help readers understand a place or decision, including the questions a single visit cannot answer.

Experience and research

First-person stories describe experiences documented on our channel or in our existing notes. Researched planning frameworks are identified as editorial guidance. We do not invent visits, costs, qualifications or personal tests.

Sources and updates

We use official sources for changing requirements and factual reference material where possible. Links are provided so readers can inspect the source. Historical prices and availability are identified as examples from the time of a visit. An editorial update does not mean every venue has been revisited.

AI assistance and review

AI tools help with research, organization, drafting and site maintenance. New weekly articles are prepared as drafts for David’s review before publication. David can correct the content and add firsthand detail. A draft is not described as personally reviewed or published until that has happened.

Videos and automatic updates

The video library is checked for new public channel uploads. Each full-length episode has its own watch page, with an embedded player and supporting notes. We preserve useful original notes and distinguish the experience shown from current planning information. The daily update uses the video’s actual description, public metadata and available source material; it does not invent a visit, a verdict or a transcript. Additional editorial context is checked before it is added. Short clips remain in their own collection.

Corrections

Contact Dave with the article or video link, the issue and a source where possible. Material corrections are reflected in the text and the relevant update note.

Commercial relationships

Sponsored material and affiliate links should be identified where they appear. A link to a useful official resource is not a paid endorsement. Reviews describe experiences and opinions rather than promises about a future visit.
