The linked consular pages concern specific categories and jurisdictions. They should not be combined into one universal application or extension checklist.

Our immigration videos show individual errands and lessons from our own time in Thailand. They can help you prepare questions, but they are not a current application checklist. The useful starting point is the exact permission you need and the authority responsible for that application.
What the older episodes actually show
The archive includes extension visits during our earlier Koh Samui period and a video about discovering an overstay. Those accounts describe what happened at the time. The entry periods, paperwork and outcome shown do not establish what applies to a new arrival or to another person now.
The practical lesson is to know the date you are permitted to stay until, check it carefully and raise uncertainty with the responsible authority early. Do not plan around repeating a favorable outcome from someone else’s mistake.
Identify the question before collecting documents
Write down where you will apply, which category you are considering and whether your question concerns an entry application, permission to remain, reporting or a future trip out of Thailand. Those are not interchangeable questions.
The official U.S. consular pages linked below describe separate Non-O retirement and O-A categories. They are useful examples of why a generic “retirement visa” checklist can be misleading. Use the embassy or consulate responsible for your location and the relevant Immigration office for an in-country question.
A useful question sheet for the responsible authority
- Which exact category and application location fit the plan I have described?
- Where is the current official checklist for that application?
- Which documents, financial evidence or other conditions need preparation, and how current must they be?
- How should I confirm my permitted-stay date, future reporting obligations and plans to leave and return?
- Who should clarify a conflict between information sources before I act?
Record the source, date and answer. Keep your own identity and financial documents private; do not send them to our website for assessment. If you need someone to interpret your circumstances, choose appropriately qualified help.
Keep history separate from instructions
A video remains part of our story even after procedures change. Treat it as context for the experience of an errand, then use current official instructions for your own case. This page deliberately does not prescribe a universal financial threshold, document list or route to approval.
