More Than Butterflies
The name suggests butterflies, and there are plenty, but Dave and Kim found a lot more things to see and discover inside. Both agree Entopia is a must see on Penang, especially if you have kids, which puts it high on the family friendly list for the island.
From Teacher to Tropical First
Entopia began with David Goh, a young teacher with a passion for butterflies, who set out to establish a tropical butterfly farm as a tourist destination in Penang. In 1986 the self taught entomologist founded the tropical world's first butterfly and insect sanctuary, known then as the Penang Butterfly Farm.
Five Million Visitors Strong
Over the years the Penang Butterfly Farm welcomed more than 5 million local and international visitors and became a point of pride for the island. In its prime it won many awards and was voted by TripAdvisor visitors as one of the best destinations in Penang.
