Thailand's Only Ganesha Museum
In Doi Lo District, along the Chiang Mai to Hod Road, sits a museum unlike any other in the country. The Ganesh Museum is dedicated entirely to Lord Ganesha, the Hindu deity of wisdom, success, and good fortune, and holds more than 1,000 unique statues and artifacts from across Southeast Asia.
A Lifelong Collection
The museum was founded by Mr. Pundhorn Teerakanon, a devoted collector for over 30 years. What began as a personal passion grew into a sacred learning center and worship site, officially opening in 2002. Dave and Kim walk viewers through the highlights, including the original worship building with its carved wooden statues, the traditional Thai sala used for ceremonies, and the temple built with prayer inscribed bricks.
Visitor Information
The museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and entrance is completely free. Visitors can also join Ganesha worship every Sunday at 10:00 AM and on special festival days such as Ganesh Chaturthi.
