From Lamai to the North Coast
The ride begins at Crystal Bay in Lamai and crosses Koh Samui toward Mae Nam on the island's northern coast. Instead of following the ring road around the coastline, Dave takes the direct route over the middle of the island, the road locals call the Shortcut to Mae Nam.
Riding the Jungle Road
The cross-island shortcut, which Dave believes is also called the Jungle Road, trades beach views for the green interior of Koh Samui. Rides like this show why a scooter is the classic way to explore the island: flexible, cheap, and able to turn a simple transfer into an adventure.
Sunset at Nathon Pier
The day finishes at Nathon Pier, on Koh Samui's west coast, where Dave catches what he calls a fantastic sunset. West facing Nathon is the island's natural sunset spot, and ending a cross-island scooter day there is a simple itinerary any visitor can copy. Ride over in the afternoon, watch the sun drop into the water, then head back along the coast road.
